The Rockville Brass Band, a British-style brass band with 30 musicians, and the Silver Spring Christmas Chorale, a massed choir from several local churches, will present an exciting holiday benefit concert at 8 pm on Saturday, December 6, at the Hughes United Methodist Church on Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, Md. The charity selected to receive financial support from the concert is the American Red Cross at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, for its program of caring for the wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan.
A range of interesting and uplifting musical pieces, from Gloria (Rutter) to the Hallelujah Chorus (Handel) with audience participation, along with familiar carols and holiday songs, including Sleigh Ride (Anderson) and The Christmas Song (Torme/Wells), will help you kick off your holiday season. Plus you will get great satisfaction from supporting a very worthwhile local charity that cares for the military heroes who have given so much, physically and mentally, for our country.
What a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays!
